State Sen. Eddie Lucio Jr. responds after photo shows him receiving COVID-19 vaccine
Sen. Eddie Lucio Jr. responded to a photo showing him receiving the COVID-19 vaccine at DRH Health in Edinburg.
The Texas Tribune photographed the state senator receiving the vaccine on Saturday, although lawmakers are not yet eligible for the vaccine unless they're health care workers. Lucio is not a health care worker.
In a statement on Monday, the senator said he accepted an invitation from DHR to receive the vaccine after they explained that all the health care workers who wanted the vaccine received it and the surplus would have to be administered or destroyed.
