UTRGV Police Advising Students to Report Emergencies on Safety Mobile App
EDINBURG – Panic stations at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley are becoming the thing of the past.
Most of the time they go unnoticed, but in a time of need they’re one of the first things people look for or run to. At UTRGV, many of the emergency call stations spread around the campus are not working.
Out of the 17 stations that remain on the Edinburg campus, only nine are still functioning.
The UTRGV police chief says the call stations are becoming obsolete. He’s wants students to rely on the CampusShield mobile app, now available to download. They launched it in July 2018. He also recommends saving the department's number on their phones; it's 956-665-7151.
