Welsaco ISD to Offer First-Offender Program to Students
WESLACO – The Weslaco Independent School District’s new joint effort with the city and police department aims to help keep youth safe and off drugs.
A new first-offender program will be implemented to help students with a previously clean record.
“If they’re able to complete this program, it’s going to be teamwork,” says Weslaco police officer Eric Hernandez. “It’s going to be the student and the parent who are working together to allow the courts to expunge this they have to comply with certain restrictions.”
KRGV’s Taylor Winkel learned more projects to promote student safety are on the works.
