Weslaco City Leaders and Residents Prepare for Rainy Week
WESLACO - In June flood waters overtook Lorena Ginez's Las Brisas neighborhood.
Ginez decided she wasn't taking any risk this time around. Sunday, she picked up sand bags from the Weslaco City Hall.
"They said that there's going to be thunderstorms," she says, "I don't know how bad it's going to get so might as well just be prepared."
Weslaco City Commissioner JP Rodriguez says after the floods in June the city wants to be ahead of an future rain events.
Rodriguez says "Should we face severe flooding again we want to make sure that we do a better job this time around."
Self-serve sandbags are still available if you were unable to get them over the weekend.
