2 Charged after Toddler Found Inside Vehicle Unattended

HARLINGEN – Two people are behind bars and charged after police received a report about a toddler left unattended inside a vehicle.

On Feb. 11, Harlingen police officers responded to the 600 block of N. Ed Carey Drive in reference to a call of a 2-year-old girl found inside a black Jeep Cherokee.

Officers located the adults, who had custody of the child and left her in the vehicle, inside the Tipsy Tavern bar.

The adults were identified as Bonnie Jean Rodman and Shay Eric Williams. They were placed under arrest for public intoxication and abandoning and endangering a child with intent to return.

The child was released unharmed to her grandmother and Child Protective Services was notified.

Rodman was given a $10,000 bond and fined $339. Williams was given a $5,000 bond and fined $339.
