WESLACO – More than 800 pounds of marijuana were seized after a traffic stop in Starr County.

A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper attempted to stop a 2008 Saturn Vue on U.S. 83 in Rio Grande City for a traffic violation on Tuesday. The vehicle evaded law enforcement before eventually coming to a stop.

Law enforcement was unable to locate the driver after they fled on foot.

Troopers discovered 70 bundles of marijuana, worth more than $4 million in the back seat and cargo area of the Saturn.

The case remains under investigation.
