UPDATE (11/7): The Silver Alert issued for a missing 78-year-old man has been canceled. Hidalgo County authorities reported Martin Alaniz was found.

WESLACO – Hidalgo County officials are asking for the public’s help to locate a missing 78-year-old man.

Authorities are looking for Martin Alaniz. He's described as a white male, 6 feet one inch tall, weighing 185 pounds with gray hair and brown eyes. 

A Silver Alert for him was issued Monday by the RGV Regional System.

Alaniz was last seen Monday before noon walking south of Mile 12 on Mile 4 1/2 west, near Weslaco. He was wearing glasses, a green shirt, and black pants. 

Officials said his disappearance poses a credible threat to his health and safety.
