SAN BENITO – The body of a missing elderly San Benito man was recovered from a resaca on Tuesday.

San Benito Police Chief Michael Galvan said Agustin Andrade was reported missing Saturday after he did not show up to meet with family.

He said people reported seeing him walking around town with his walker. That led police to the resaca near Frontage Road and Sam Houston Boulevard.

The local fire department searched the resaca by boat and found Andrade’s body.

Galvan reminds the public to stay away from resacas. He said they can be very dangerous as there can be heavy vegetation and water rushing underneath the surface.
