Border Patrol Agent Recovering from Bite Wounds
WESLACO – A Border Patrol agent is recovering from multiple bite wounds. The alleged attacker was a convicted human smuggler with prior deportations.
According to a federal complaint, Mexican national, Jesus Roman Alonzo-Barela, encountered a Border Patrol agent at the Roma cemetery last week.
The agent tried to arrest Alonzo and several other people who crossed into the United States illegally.
Alonzo is accused of biting the agent three times. The injuries required the agent to be hospitalized.
Alonzo was arrested and charged with assault on a federal agent.
