Brownsville to Distribute Sandbags amid Upcoming Hurricane Season
BROWNSVILLE – Brownsville residents will be able to pick up sandbags to prepare for the upcoming hurricane season.
Officials are encouraging residents to not wait for a storm hit the area.
The city will host a sandbag drive-thru pickup event Friday, May 17 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The free sandbags can be picked up at Industrial Park on GBIC Circle.
Residents need to show proof of residency, such as a valid form of identification or utility bill from the city.
Staff will be on site to load the sandbags into vehicles.
A limit of eight bags will be distributed to residents; businesses may receive up to 10 bags.
Hurricane season officially starts June 1 and runs through Nov. 30.
