BROWNSVILLE – Customs and Border Protection officers rescued two people from the Rio Grande Sunday.

Brownsville Border Patrol agents responded to a report of about 40 migrants, who crossed the Rio Grande underneath the Brownsville Bridge.

Officers then noticed some migrants pinned in the middle of the river due to the strong currents.

Nearby CBP riverine units responded to the area, rescuing a man traveling with his child.

CBP provided them with medical attention and had the entire group transported to the Brownsville Border Patrol Station.
