BROWNSVILLE- The way the City of Brownsville helps immigrant families is changing.

City Manager, Noel Bernal, spoke with the director of Good Neighbor Settlement House.

Over the weekend, the shelter has received hundreds of immigrant families released from federal custody.

Bernal said the families will now also be going to the Ozanam Center.

They intend to open up a tent to help provide a staging area that would not fit in the confined Good Neighbor Settlement House grounds.

Between the two shelters and the transit center, Bernal said they do not currently anticipate having to use their FEMAdome.

The changes were a result of a morning meeting between city leaders.
