DONNA – A mayoral candidate is Donna is ineligible to run for office.

A complaint to the city questioned the residency of Jose Ernesto Lugo Jr.

Donna’s city charter requires someone must live in the city at least six months before running for office.

The Texas Secretary of State determined Lugo is ineligible to run.

Lugo’s name will still be on the ballot, but cannot win the mayor’s seat.

The city says they cannot remove Lugo’s name from the ballot this close to the election.
