BROWNSVILLE – Recycling employees at the Port of Brownsville didn't expect to start their Monday without a place to work.

A letter of termination was posted Monday morning; all the tenants inside were not allowed in.

Four lease termination letters posted and a tractor blocked customers and employees from entering the Port of Brownsville Recycling building.

Mirna Del Castillo has worked at the Port of Brownsville Recycling, or Trinity Scrap Processors, Inc., for two years. 

Del Castillo explains she is the office manager, book keeper and accountant.

She says she doesn't understand why employees were locked out.

"You get up in the morning, you try to make the best of it; at your job, at your work, wherever you go and then you get to your job and you can't even get into work," says Del Castillo.

The Port of Brownsville letter states that two different business leases were terminated at the Brownsville Navigation District.

The letter states locks were changed on the buildings and the Cameron County Sheriff's Department will be contacted if anyone trespasses.

Del Castillo guesses the Port of Brownsville Recycling won't be reopening anytime soon.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS reached the Brownsville Navigation District; their spokesperson tells us they do not have any additional information to give out.
