WESLACO – The U.S. Department of Agriculture is asking farmers to send in their census of agriculture information form due on Monday, Feb. 5.

Any member of the agricultural community who made more than $1,000 in profits is asked to fill out the questionnaire about their business.

Brad Cowan with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension says the USDA asks farmers to fill out every 10 years.

He says although the form takes time to fill out, it’ll help the federal government understand the needs in the Rio Grande Valley.

“It is long and it takes some time to complete. It’s 24 pages long, so it’s not easy,” he says. “But we really highly encourage our AG producers to take some time to go ahead and complete it.”

The USDA Census of Agriculture Form can also be filled out on their website.
