WESLACO – The FBI is warning parents to be cautious of their children’s online activity.

Parents are advised to build a strong digital defense in order to protect their children from online predators.

KRGV’s Trason Bragg spoke with cybersecurity expert Abel Segovia about the issue.

Segovia recommends posting a nickname on the account rather than their full name to prevent predators from figuring out where they go to school or places their involved in such as extracurricular activities.

Segovia explains monitoring their children’s activity is important and suggests logging in to the account to oversee what is being shared online.
