LA VILLA – Hidalgo County is one step closer to begin the construction of a 250-acre reservoir system that officials say will alleviate flooding.

Officials say the Delta Regional Reclamation Project will help divert flooding rain waters away from homes and turn it into profit.

The system will allow excess water to flow through the main drainage system and into the reservoir.

KRGV’s Taylor spoke with Hidalgo County Precinct 1 Commissioner David Fuentes who says they also plan to treat the runoff water so it can be sold to municipalities.
