HIDALGO – A Houston woman is in custody after attempting to smuggle methamphetamine through the Hidalgo port-of-entry.

Customs and Border Protection says the 45-year-old tried driving through the bridge early Monday morning.

Officers discovered 36 packs of the alleged narcotics hidden in the vehicle, weighing about 70 pounds.

The drugs are estimated to be worth nearly $1.4 million.
