Hundreds of Students Gather in Technology, Innovation Conference
MCALLEN – Hundreds of students from school across the Rio Grande Valley gathered last week for the Third Annual Student by Student Technology and Leadership Conference.
Weeks of preparation came to a grand finale in McAllen where over 900 students, Grades 9 to 12, participated in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) event.
Whether it was a 3-D printer or a mobile app of the future, young minds were the brains behind the creations.
For the past three years, the dean of Rivera Early College High School, Genny Sterling, says she’s helped students with their team and solo presentations.
“To me, the most exciting thing about this is the students are teaching each other, and so in terms of leadership skills, they’re standing up in front of their peers,” says the Brownsville instructor.
