PROGRESO – A Rio Grande Valley 7th grade student was honored after receiving an exceptional score on the ACT.

Progreso ISD student Emma Hernandez was recognized by the Duke University Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP) on May 21.

Duke TIP 7th Grade Talent Search program identifies students who are capable of taking the college-entrance exams and recognizes those who scored at or above the 95th percentile on the ACT.

Of the almost 49,000 students who took the exams through the program, only 85 had perfect scores in one or more sections. Hernandez received a perfect score in the reading portion of the exam.
