MCALLEN – A house sits empty. It has no kitchen, no restrooms; furniture sits outside where contract workers left it.

An unfinished construction job has left a woman homeless with her dream home nowhere in sight.

Margarita De Leon’s husband passed away seven years ago.

She decided to remodel their home; the way she and her husband had always wanted.

De Leon hired Jorge Gomez from K and I Construction in January. The contract stated work would be complete by March 24.

She says Gomez took her credit card information to pay for materials.

De Leon has receipts totaling almost $33,000, that’s excluding the cash she gave Gomez whenever he told her he needed more money.
