LOS INDIOS – The decision of the proposed border wall is put on hold for three weeks.

KRGV’s Angelo Vargas spoke with Los Indios Mayor Rick Cavazos about the government’s temporary re-open.

Cavazos has long advocated for a border wall.

He says his main focus is border security and making sure a wall is built where needed.

Cavazos says he thinks Border Patrol agents should help decide the location of the wall.

"It ought to be left to Border Patrol engaging in the communities to determine where would be an appropriate area for the barrier," he says.

Cavazos explains the wall will not fix immigration issues, but admits it is a tool to help agents protect the border.
