MCALLEN – The city of McAllen is getting back money for helping with the humanitarian crisis.

From January to July, the city spent nearly $180,000 of taxpayer money on migrants.

Earlier this year, the city applied for reimbursement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

On Monday, the board charged with handing out those funds approved more than $109,000 in reimbursement to the city.

No word yet when those funds will be coming in.

City leaders are still working to get the remainder of the money.
