NEAR PALMVIEW – A man is dead after crashing his vehicle into a ditch along FM 676.

It happened Thursday approximately at 12:40 p.m. west of Bentsen Palm Drive, just north of Palmview.

The Department of Public Safety says a preliminary investigation revealed 55-year-old Octavio Guerrero, of Mission, was traveling westbound on FM 676 when for an unknown reason he lost control and veered into a side ditch.

Guerrero was transported to the hospital, where he died.

DPS is further investigating the cause of death.
