SANTA ROSA – The Cameron County District Attorney is attempting to resolve a case involving missing marijuana at a local police department.

An audit in 2015 concluded over 15 pounds of marijuana was missing from the Santa Rosa Police Department’s evidence locker.

The DA says Hernandez could not account for the drugs so he won’t take any more cases from the police department.

An hour-long meeting took place Thursday but no decision was made on whether Police Chief Ronnie Hernandez will stay in office.

The arguing was not to decide on this issue but whether the discussion should be held in public or behind closed doors.

Another meeting will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 20. The public is invited.

KRGV’s John Paul Barajas has the details.
