DONNA - Two dogs are on the road to recovery after they were rescued from a drainage ditch.

At around 9 p.m. Sunday, animal rescue coordinator Sandra Valdes got the call about two dogs stuck.

"They were running the pipes, so they weren't just in that hold that you see in the video, they were actually running that pipe system and that was their dead end," says Valdes.

A couple of state troopers heard a scuffle coming from the ditch and worked on getting the dogs out for hours, occasionally throwing in some food.

Valdes says that without any witnesses, there's no way of knowing how the dogs wound up there.
