PROGRESO – A Pharr man is in custody of the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office after Customs and Border Protection officers discovered he had an outstanding warrant for indecency with a child.

CBP says 55-year-old Raul Rene Villarreal was crossing back on the Progreso International Bridge from Mexico when he was sent into secondary inspection.

Officials conducted a biometric inspection, utilizing national law enforcement databases, confirming Villarreal was wanted in Hidalgo County for indecency with a child-sexual contact.

CBP officers turned him over to the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office.
