Progreso Family Picking Up Pieces After Fire
PROGRESO – A Progreso family is still working to pick up the pieces after a fire
Ricardo Cortez’s home caught fire last month. Seven cars were lost as well as a portion of his home.
Cortez said neither his home nor the vehicles were insured.
He and his sons have begun the rebuilding process. However, he believes the process will be slow due to the family’s financial situation.
In total, 13 people were living in the home.
Until the rebuild is complete, Cortez said the family will be living with relatives.
Investigator John Franz with the Hidalgo County Fire Marshal’s Office said the fire has been ruled undetermined.
