HARLINGEN – The local Red Cross chapters say they’re in need of volunteers as storms approach the Rio Grande Valley,

Officials say although they need the help now, you must first take a course.

“We just don’t want to send you out into a situation where you don’t have the proper training to know what you’re doing,” says Jake Peters, a Red Cross regional volunteer services officer.

Those interested must be 18 years or older and submit to a background check. Visit their webpage for additional information.
