Reports of Man with Gun Led to Arrest in McAllen

MCALLEN – Police in McAllen responded to a report of a person spotted carrying a gun. The call led to the arrest of an 18-year-old early Sunday morning.

The suspect was spotted on the 500 block of South Rose Ellen Boulevard around 2 a.m. The McAllen police chief said an officer saw the suspect, and the suspect appeared to point something at him. The man ran, but officers later caught him.

Police searched the area the suspect was first spotted and found a discarded handgun.

McAllen police said 18-year-old Juan Manuel Morin Jr. was arrested and charged with two counts of criminal attempt capital murder, one count of criminal aggravated attempt robbery and one count evading arrest.
