La Feria Police Suspend Search for Suspicious Person, Lockdown Lifted

UPDATE (2 p.m.): La Feria ISD says authorities have contacted them and the search has been suspended.

All student activities have been cancelled for the rest of the day.

LA FERIA – Some schools in La Feria are currently on lockdown as law enforcement search for a person.

Right now, Noemi Dominguez Elementary, David Sanchez Elementary, W.B. Green Junior High, La Feria High School and Our Lady of the Lake University are on lockdown.

A suspicious person was reported being seen wearing body armor walking along the canal bank south of Dodd Lane.

The schools are put on lockdown as a precaution.

According to Our Lady of the Lake University representative, the campus in La Feria was closed.

They received a notice from the city sometime before 12 p.m. Monday about a suspicious person.

Since the university is between sessions and have no classes for the day, the campus decided to close down and send their staff home out of precaution.
