DONNA – An Hidalgo County sheriff's deputy is recovering after he was involved in an accident Monday.

Authorities say the deputy was conducting traffic control at the time.

The accident happened along Expressway 83 in Donna.

In a Facebook post, the department wrote the deputy's unit was struck from behind by a distracted driver.

The deputy and driver of the second vehicle suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Both were transported to local area hospitals for treatment.
