Special Election to Take Place after City Commissioner Resigns

WESLACO – A local city commissioner has resigned amid a bribery investigation, which leaves a vacant seat for the position.

Jerry Tafolla, Weslaco city commissioner, pleaded guilty to bribery in connection to a $38 million contract to rehabilitate the city’s water treatment facilities.

A special election to fill the seat is set for July 16.
