HARLINGEN –Authorities released video of a car they believe was involved in a crash that killed a 57-year-old woman.

Natividad Chavez died of her injuries last week after being fatally hit while crossing 77 Sunshine Strip near Southland Ave.

Police said the driver of the car did not stop to render aid.

The Harlingen Police Department said they now have surveillance video of and a better description of the car they believe was involved.

“We’ve been canvassing all of the local businesses in the area and all parts of town associated with this accident,” Harlingen Police Sgt. John Parrish said.

Parrish said they received surveillance video from several businesses near the crash site. The video shows the suspect’s vehicle speeding down the road, feet away from where the deadly crash took place.

“We are still looking for a 2013 to a 2016 Ford Fusion. We believe it is possibly silver or light grey in color,” he described.

Police said they want the public to get a good look at the car.

“Anybody with information who may have seen a vehicle of this make or model, possible had the front end damage, to please call us,” Parrish said.

Investigators added the suspect drove north of 77 Sunshine Strip and turned right on Tyler Ave. after the deadly hit-and-run.

Anyone with information can call Harlingen Crime Stoppers at 956-425-8477.
