BROWNSVILLE – A man is set to pay with his life for the slaying of a Border Patrol agent in 2014.

However, it may be years before Gustavo Tijerina-Sandoval faces death.

State prison officials say he will be transferred to the Allan B. Polunsky Unit near Livingston, Texas where death row inmates are housed.

KRGV’s Daisy Martinez spoke to a director of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice who breaks down the process.
