Tip Leads to Drug Bust near Port Isabel

NEAR PORT ISABEL – U.S. Customs and Border Protection is crediting a concerned citizen for helping Border Patrol agents catch a group of alleged smugglers.

Agents said the men were crossing the ship channel near Port Isabel.

Three Mexican nationals and a juvenile where apprehended and agents seized more than 250 pounds of marijuana.

Border Patrol said the drugs had a street value of more than $200,000.

The narcotics and smugglers were turned over to the DEA.
