SALT LAKE CITY, UT – A Utah state trooper had a close call Wednesday morning while saving an unconscious driver from getting hit by a train.

Trooper Correa was on a traffic stop close to where the incident occurred.

Dispatch alerted him to a possible car on the train tracks, prompting Correa to leave the traffic stop and rush to the location.

He used a spotlight to find the car on the tracks and was able to get to the driver within 30 seconds and pull him to safety.

The driver was on the tracks due to a medical emergency that left him unconscious.

The driver is now recovering.
