EDINBURG – Water levels at Falcon Lake have dropped to lows drawing concerns from experts for the first time since the flood in late June.

An Edinburg citrus grower says the heat and lack of rain could mean a lot of irrigation costs.

KRGV’s Frank McCaffrey spoked to a citrus expert with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension who says floodwater was diverted to the Gulf leaving little to no runoff for to the watershed.

He says even if reservoir levels continue to drop, irrigation districts would do something to save local crops.
