Idani Cantu

Hi, I'm Idani, host of Take 5! I joined the KRGV team in June 2024 and have had the privilege to grow from associate producer, to reporter, and now host of the Valley's lifestyle show!

I'm a proud Rio Grande City native and even prouder to call the Rio Grande Valley home! One of my favorite parts of this job is meeting new people, hearing their stories, and sharing what makes our region such a special place to live. Every person has a story worth telling, and I love helping bring them to life!

One story that will always stay with me is featuring a 96-year-old fiddler from San Benito, Jose Moreno, also known as El Fidelero del Valle. It's moments like those that remind me why I love what I do.

When I'm not working, you'll probably find me out enjoying the sunshine. I'll either be on a walk, the pickleball court, or really just finding any excuse to be outside! I'm also a proud Fightin' Texas Aggie (Gig 'em!), and love spending time with my family and my cat, Marie!
