About 1,800 Migrants Hopeful to Seek Asylum in Eagle Pass

EAGLE PASS – About 1,800 migrants are waiting across the border from Eagle Pass in hopes to begin the asylum process.

Approximately 16 cases are processed per day.

The Del Rio Chief Patrol agent says nearly 100 people who tried crossing the border illegally have been arrested.

More than 250 police officers, medics and engineers from Arizona have been reassigned to respond to the caravan.

A military spokesperson says the soldiers will fortify the port of entry upon arrival.
