Active Duty Service Member Struck by Driver in Edinburg

EDINBURG – Police say an incident in Edinburg on Friday morning claimed the life of an active duty service member.

The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Cassandra Julianna Perez.

Police say Perez was standing outside of her stalled vehicle when she was struck by another driver.

The incident happened along the 3400 block of North 24th Avenue.

The 24-year-old man accused of hitting her is in custody and expected to be arraigned on Saturday.
