MCALLEN - The U.S. Census held a job fair in McAllen Saturday to fill more than 4,000 jobs to help get Valley residents counted for the 2020 Census.

More than 100 people showed up to fill out applications.

Ernie Villa was an applicant, he explains the importance of making sure all Valley residents are counted.

He says, "People should be counted. That way the money that is supposed to be distributed to the counties and the state do account for the amount of people we actually have."

Wages range from $12 - $14.

Requirements to apply include:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • 18 years or older.
  • Applicants must own a vehicle
