Cold Fronts Concerning Valley Shrimpers amid Slow Season

Related Story

PORT ISABEL – Rio Grande Valley shrimpers are concerned more cold weather could slow down an already bad season.

When cold fronts come through the Valley, they generate rough seas, causing small craft advisories.

“It will drive a few of the boats back into port or if the boat is out there and it gets too rough, they may lower the anchor for a couple of days that way it secures their safety,” said Andrea Hance, the executive director of the Texas Shrimp Association.

When a boat is docked, it can mean lost money; making a slow season even slower.
