CON MI GENTE: Valley Citrus and Vegetable Show

MERCEDES – Some may remember the old Valley Citrus and Vegetable Show, where 4-H and FFA member would visit local farms, harvest some of produce and then exhibit them in competition.
Well, the show it back and it’s found a new home at the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show grounds in Mercedes.
“We're educating kids on where their food comes from and what better way than to see it growing in the fields. And then learn how it's prepared for commercial harvest and how it winds up on people's tables,” said Brad Cowan, an event participate.
There were 65 different vegetables at the event for people test their knowledge and taste.
