Detention Hearing Set for Harlingen Teen Accused of Terrorist Threats

BROWNSVILLE – A Harlingen 18-year-old facing federal charges will be arraigned and have a detention hearing Tuesday.
Joel Hayden Schrimsher was indicted last month on six different count for an online “hoax” over the summer.
He’s accused of posting threatening messages on Twitter against religious groups.
According to court documents, he was planning to set fire to a mosque then shoot up a synagogue.
Schrimsher is being held without bond.
