ERCOT Speaks on Emergency Alert System

WESLACO - For a second time in a week, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, or ERCOT, issued an emergency alert, asking all Texas residents to conserve energy.
The emergency has lifted, but ERCOT is still asking residents to conserve energy.
They say raising your thermostat just a couple degrees helps, even though it's difficult when temperatures are high.
ERCOT managers explained energy reserves are tighter than expected because of high demands.
They issued a level one emergency alert in their three tier system.
Senior Director of System Operations Dan Woodfin says even with two alerts in one week it's not alarming.
For rolling brownouts, emergency levels would have had to surpass level one, two and gone into level three.
ERCOT tells us high temperatures, made for more people using their air conditioner, as well as low wind that generated less wind power, contributed to the energy emergency alert.
