Gov. Abbott Announces $9M Grant to Law Enforcement along Border

WESLACO – Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced Friday additional grant funding to federal, state and local law enforcement agencies along the southern border.

The Operation Stonegarden Grant Program will increase operational capabilities border law enforcement.

Gov. Abbott announced the $9 million grant, after the previous release of $4 million grant funding, as part of the $30 million in Operations Orders.

According to a release, these funds ensure that law enforcement is equipped with the resources they need to confront the challenges that exist along the Texas border.

“These additional grants will provide much needed resources to law enforcement agencies to maintain their robust operations,” says Abbott.

The grant will include funds for the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe, and 16 other local law enforcement agencies in the counties of Cameron, Kenedy, McMullen, Presidio, Starr, Sutton, Val Verde and Webb.
