Hidlago Co. Sheriff's Deputy Charged with Assault on a Public Servant

WESLACO – An Hidalgo County sheriff's deputy is on administrative leave after being charged with assault.

Hidalgo County Sheriff Eddie Guerra says Deputy Roberto Rivera was arrested by Palmurst police Sunday for assaulting an official.

Rivera was off-duty at the time of the incident.

He was placed on administrative leave with pay pending an internal investigation.
