EDINBURG – The investigation into Edinburg’s voter fraud case is not over.

The mayor of Edinburg, Richard Molina, and his wife, Dalia Molina, have been charged – bringing the total to 18 people facing voter fraud charges.

More arrests could come as the Texas Attorney General’s Elections Fraud Unit and the Hidalgo County District Attorney’s Office continue working the case.

One voter even told investigators about a conversation, in which, Molina said he planned to use people who lived outside of city limits to increase the number of votes for himself, according to the arrest affidavit.

The state contends Molina and his wife had numerous voters change their addresses to other places, including an apartment complex he owns.

The investigation continues into what the state is calling an “illegal voting scheme”.
