Man with Disability Receives Notice due to Service Dogs

MCALLEN – A McAllen man with cerebral palsy fears he must choose between his service dog and his home.
Juan Carlos Lopez lives with his mother and step-father in a McAllen trailer home.
Also in the household is his service dog, a Collie-Labrador mix named Nathaniel, as well as two emotional support dogs that belong to Lopez’s mother.
He received a notice from the property owners through Hidalgo County explaining rules and regulations at the trailer park state only one pet is allowed per mobile home – failure to correct this within five days will result in an eviction notice.
KRGV’s Frank McCaffrey reached out to the owners and was told Nathaniel could stay but the other two dogs could not.
